Yes. Trains between Shanghai and Suzhou take about 20 to 45 minutes each way, not counting getting to and from the stations, so you can keep your Shanghai hotel. Source
It can be. High-speed trains take about 45 to 90 minutes each way. Add the ride from the Hangzhou station to West Lake, and it works as a full day out without changing hotels. Source
About 12 hours: a published Beijing West to Zhangjiajie West example takes 12 hours 1 minute. That is a full travel day before hotel transfers, so compare flights if time is tight. Source
About 7.5 to 11.5 hours by daytime high-speed train, depending on the service and stations. It takes most of a day, so many travellers compare flights. Source
Yes. Trains from Zhangjiajie West to Furongzhen take about 23 to 30 minutes. Wulingyuan is not at the station, so allow road transfers at both ends and leave your bags at the hotel. Source
Panjin, in Liaoning. Red Beach is around 40 km from the city by published visitor guidance, and the red colour is usually best from mid-September to mid-October. Source
Zhangye, in Gansu. The Zhangye Danxia geopark is a half-day visit plus road transfers from the city. June to September is milder; pack warm layers for October and November. Source
Vish Travels plans a trip around where you sleep, not around a long list of sights. Pick overnight bases, split your nights between them, and add visits, half-day or full-day trips that return to the same base. The planner tells you when your nights do not add up to your dates.

China has the deepest detail: hand-checked guides with food and festivals, sample train times and autumn temperatures. Elsewhere each city card shows a short Wikipedia summary with links to its Wikivoyage guide and to things to do on Klook.
Distance rings (100 to 2,000 km) are straight-line distances, not road or rail distances. Lines between bases connect points; they are not real track or road routes. Train times (China) are published examples, not live timetables; elsewhere a Rome2Rio link compares trains, buses, flights and driving. Temperatures are monthly averages, not forecasts. China activities come from a Klook catalog collected on 26 September 2026 and are not live, so check price and availability on Klook before you book. Distances are shown in kilometres and miles.
